Through the satellite tournaments conducted by PokerStars, Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 World Series of Poker championship and Greg “Fissilman” Raymer won the championship in 2004.  Another World Series of Poker champion, Joe Hachem, is also on the team, though he was not sponsored by the online poker site at the time.

In addition to its World Championship of Online Poker tournament, PokerStars also sponsors the European Poker Tour.  The site also sponsored the PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure, which was an event on the World Poker Tour.  Although the event is no longer part of the World Poker Tour, the event is now part of the European Poker Tour.  As a result of the site’s involvement in poker on so many levels, it was named the “Best Poker Operator of the Year” by eGaming Review.
